Privacy policy

This policy explains how the Riviera Nelson Bay website (the “site”) collects, uses and protects your personal information. Riviera is a holiday house at Victoria Parade, Nelson Bay NSW, managed by Stay Port Stephens. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect
- Site usage (only if you accept analytics). Pages viewed, clicks on booking buttons, approximate location (city level), device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site.
- Your cookie choice. We save whether you accepted or declined analytics in your browser’s local storage so we do not ask again each visit.
We do not collect payment details on this site. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
How we use it
- To reply if you email or call us and help you plan a stay.
- To understand which parts of the site are useful and improve it, using combined statistics.
- To keep the site secure and block spam.
We do not sell your information or use it for third-party advertising.
Bookings and payments
Bookings, availability, pricing and payments are handled on the Stay Port Stephens booking pages, which are linked from this site and shown inside it. When you use those pages, Stay Port Stephens collects and handles your information under its own privacy policy.

If you decline, no analytics cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie settings” link in the footer, or by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
Who else handles your information
- Google (United States and other countries) provides Google Analytics, if you accept it, and Google Fonts, which loads the site’s typefaces and receives your IP address when it does.
- OpenStreetMap and Google Maps show maps when you open a map link.
- Our web host keeps standard server logs, such as IP address and pages requested, for security and troubleshooting.
Some of these providers store data outside Australia. We take reasonable steps to use providers with appropriate privacy and security practices.
How long we keep it
We keep emails you send us for as long as needed to answer you and for a reasonable period after, then delete them. Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in Google Analytics, which is a maximum of 14 months.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. We limit access to emails you send us to the people who need them to reply. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Use the contact details below. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
